Carmen Charette

Carmen Charette has been committed to supporting a dynamic environment in postsecondary education, research and innovation for more than 35 years. As a leader and executive at SSHRC, the Canada Foundation for Innovation and the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council, she was responsible for developing and delivering strategies, policies, programs and partnerships to promote research and research infrastructure. She left SSHRC in 2012 to join the University of Victoria as vice-president, External Relations, where she contributed to building the profile and reputation of the university.

Carmen holds degrees in biochemistry and business administration from the University of Ottawa. She also completed the Advanced Leadership Program for Assistant Deputy Ministers at the Canada School of Public Service in 2010.
