SSHRC is pleased to announce the appointment of Valérie La Traverse as SSHRC’s new vice-president, Corporate Affairs.

Valérie brings to SSHRC many years of experience in the science and technology community, having worked in many key positions at Global Affairs Canada (GAC) forging international science, technology and innovation partnerships and agreements, as well as advancing innovative policy solutions. In 2015, she was instrumental in working with SSHRC to launch the annual International Policy Ideas Challenge, a GAC-SSHRC collaboration that continues to build networks of talented Canadian students, fellows and researchers to address Canada’s emerging challenges in international policy.

SSHRC would also like to thank Brent Herbert-Copley, outgoing executive vice-president, who is retiring following many years of dedicated service to SSHRC and the public service. Brent played a key leadership role in SSHRC’s progress for over a decade, and we extend our very best wishes for his future endeavours.
