See you at Acfas!

The Association francophone pour le savoir (Acfas) will be holding its 87th Congress from May 27 to 31, 2019, in Gatineau, Quebec. It is the most important multidisciplinary gathering for research and knowledge in la Francophonie.

Under the theme Engager le dialogue savoirs – sociétés, Acfas, in partnership with Université du Québec en Outaouais (UQO), is organizing a week of symposiums and panels that will take place at three different sites.

SSHRC will participate in several of the congress activities.

In partnership with the International Development Research Centre (IDRC) and the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), SSHRC is organizing a breakfast seminar on Ebola and community mental health, on Wednesday, May 29, from 8:00 to 9:00 a.m.

SSHRC President Ted Hewitt will speak at a symposium on the training of the next generation of researchers, on Tuesday, May 28, at 9:45 a.m. He will also participate in a panel discussion as part of a symposium on Canadian Francophonie and the advancement of science, on Thursday, May 30, at 1:30 p.m.

SSHRC’s Vice-President, Research Programs, Dominique Bérubé, will be part of a panel discussion on diversity as a driving force, on Friday, May 31, at 1:30 p.m.

More than 5000 participants are expected to attend about 200 symposiums and 80 presentations during the congress. You are invited to meet SSHRC's program officers, who will be present at our kiosk Monday to Thursday between 8:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. and Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
