2023 Storytellers Showcase

Join SSHRC for this special 10th edition of the Storytellers Showcase, featuring honed, live presentations of original submissions by this year’s Top 25 finalists in the Storytellers Challenge. Each year, The Storytellers Challenge invites postsecondary students to show Canadians, in up to three minutes or 300 words, how social sciences and humanities research affects our lives, our world and our future for the better.

The Final Five winners of this year’s SSHRC Storytellers Challenge will be announced at the start of Monday’s Big Thinking lecture, which is sponsored by SSHRC. Come celebrate this year’s winners, then stay for Seeds of the future: Climate justice, racial justice and Indigenous resurgence by Alanis Obomsawin, C.C., G.O.Q., C.A.L.Q.

Ask Me Anything: SSHRC’s Talent program—scholarships and fellowships

This AMA-style session will outline SSHRC’s Talent funding opportunities; the new master’s-level Indigenous Scholars Awards and Supplements; and support for Black undergraduate, master’s and doctoral students, and Black postdoctoral researchers. Past award holders will discuss the new initiatives and their own career trajectories and offer advice for prospective applicants. SSHRC staff will also be available to provide general application advice.
