There are pressing challenges to which the social sciences and humanities research community can and should contribute its knowledge, talent and expertise. This is the inspiration behind SSHRC’s Imagining Canada’s Future initiative.

Jutta Treviranus studies how to include people with disabilities into the new digital economy. She found that inclusive design—where developers design assisted technology at the same time as standard new technology—can lead to increased participation in the labour force by people with disabilities.

Five researchers receive honours

Researchers from five Canadian universities have each received a prestigious Impact Award from SSHRC for their excellence in scholarly work, and for their exceptional leadership in sharing knowledge and collaborating with others. The awards were presented at the World Social Science Forum in Montreal.
