Apply to the College and Community Social Innovation Fund
The College and Community Social Innovation Fund competition is now open! The program aims to develop partnerships between colleges and communities to do research in areas such as the integration of vulnerable populations, community development, education and training, climate change, environmental degradation, and health and well-being.
Seeking members for Indigenous Leadership Circle in Research
First Nations, Inuit and Métis Peoples are invited to submit Expressions of Interest to participate in an interagency Indigenous Leadership Circle in Research. The Leadership Circle will advise the presidents of the three federal research funding agencies and the Canada Foundation for Innovation on the implementation of the Canada Research Coordinating Committee’s strategic plan for strengthening Indigenous research capacity.
Canadian researchers to collaborate on international research projects
SSHRC has announced an investment of over $3 million over three years to support nine Canadian research teams collaborating with international partners. These research projects were among the successful projects of the sixth call of the Open Research Area.

To prevent traditional recipes from disappearing as Elders get older—and to preserve the Cree language and knowledge of how to live off the land—Manitoba’s Fisher River Cree Nation worked with Shailesh Shukla from The University of Winnipeg to produce a Cree-English cookbook.
Improving Black health with better data

Studies have found that Black communities experience consistently poorer health outcomes than other groups as a result of racism and associated structural inequities. Falan Bennett, a master’s student at the University of Toronto Dalla Lana School of Public Health, is examining this issue in relation to two specific health crises: COVID-19 and maternal illness and death.
