Canada Research Coordinating Committee launches consultation summary report

On November 5, the Canada Research Coordinating Committee released the findings of its national consultation on proposed measures to strengthen science in Canada. Insights gathered will help shape new research funding opportunities, strengthen equity, diversity and inclusion, and improve support for early career researchers.

A look at what we do by the numbers

SSHRC supports partnerships across borders 

SSHRC
-funded international collaboration creates access to new ideas and talent, and increases the scope and impact of Canadian research.

In 2017-18:

SSHRC supported 1,435 international researchers
representing 84 countries;


SSHRC worked with 253 international partners;

  • 41% of Partnership Development Grants involved at least one international partner;
     
  • 12% of Partnership Engage Grants involved at least one international partner; and
     
  • 83% of Partnership Grants involved at least one international partner.

Trans-Atlantic Platform launches Social Innovation Call for Proposals

The Trans-Atlantic Platform has launched its 2018 Social Innovation Call for Proposals, which will support international projects that can contribute to increasing our understanding of societal transformations and the role of social innovation. The deadline for applications is February 14, 2019. 


 
Read a new report on Canada in an interconnected, evolving global society

SSHRC has released a new report that draws on findings from 30 knowledge synthesis projects, and insights from cross-sectoral leaders, focused on the impacts of peak population and the knowledge Canada needs to thrive in an interconnected, evolving, global landscape. The report identifies research gaps and strengths to help better understand Canada's diverse communities and issues, and innovative solutions for global challenges. 


 
Apply for SSHRC's Research Data Management Capacity Building Initiative

SSHRC has issued a special call for Connection Grants encouraging the research community to engage with data management concepts to determine what research data means to different disciplines.
