Government of Canada announces the SSHRC 2024 Insight Grant and Insight Development Grant recipients
September 13, 2024 – Ottawa, Ontario – Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada
Today, the Honourable Marie-Claude Bibeau, Minister of National Revenue, on behalf of the Honourable François-Philippe Champagne, Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry, announced that $123.1 million in federal research funding has been awarded through 503 Insight Grants and 590 Insight Development Grants to researchers working in social sciences and humanities disciplines at institutions across Canada. These grants enable scholars to further our collective understanding of individuals and societies, as well as to inform the search for solutions to societal challenges.
This year, the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) awarded Insight Grants and Insight Development Grants to an impressive group of scholars who represent a wide array of research disciplines within the social sciences and humanities. The recipients were selected based on the excellence of their research proposals, and their potential to make significant contributions to their respective fields. The research being funded includes projects that will, among other things, explore how Salish relational ecologies can strengthen salmon stewardship in the Pacific Northwest; digital artistic productions by queer Sikhs; and ways to maximize the benefits of diversity within organizations according to their specific contexts and labour needs.
The Insight Research program is a vital component of SSHRC’s commitment to supporting research excellence and fostering innovative scholarship in the social sciences and humanities. The recipients of these grants play a crucial role in advancing knowledge, driving social change, and promoting a deeper understanding of the world around us.
