Greening Government Operations

Target 7.2: Green Procurement
As of April 1, 2014, the Government of Canada will continue to take action to embed environmental considerations into public procurement, in accordance with the federal Policy on Green Procurement.
Scope and Context
SSHRC’s approach to implementing green procurement is to focus on the use of Public Works and Government Services Canada procurement instruments, the delivery of training to key personnel, and the inclusion of green procurement objectives in the employee performance evaluation of key decision-makers.

Target 7.3: Sustainable Workplace Operations
As of April 1, 2015, the Government of Canada will update and adopt policies and practices to improve the sustainability of its workplace operations.
Scope and Context
Starting in April 2014, SSHRC will be joining the Government of Canada’s Shared Travel Services (STS) solution, an initiative led by Public Works and Government Services Canada. STS will simplify the way SSHRC books, approves, reimburses and reports on travel for employees and external stakeholders. The transition to this solution will occur through 2014-15 and will improve the sustainability of SSHRC’s workplace operations.
