Jane Pagel

Jane Pagel has held executive roles in both government and industry and has served on a number of public and private boards, including CHAR Technologies, BluMetric Environmental Inc., Walker Industries, Kleinschmidt Associates, and Sustainable Development Technology Canada (SDTC). She was also interim president and CEO of SDTC from 2014 to 2015. Prior to that, Jane was president and CEO of the Ontario Clean Water Agency (OCWA) from 2010 until her retirement in 2014. OCWA provided water and wastewater services to municipalities, First Nations and businesses through more than 800 treatment facilities. Until 2008, Jane was also a member of the Prime Minister’s Advisory Board on Science and Technology, which provided advice on science and technology goals and policies, and their application to the Canadian economy.
Jane’s prior industry positions included principal, Government and Industrial Relations, at Stantec; senior vice-president and principal at Jacques Whitford, which, at the time, was one of Canada’s largest private consulting engineering, environmental and earth sciences firms; vice-president, Government Relations, at Philip Services; and president of Zenon Environmental Laboratories. She also held senior positions at the Ontario Ministry of the Environment, including director of Research and Technology.
Jane is a graduate of the Institute of Corporate Directors program at the Rotman School of Business at the University of Toronto and has an M.Sc. in microbiology from the University of Toronto.
