McGill University art history professor Charmaine Nelson is making sure learning about black history does not start and end in February. Nelson's research is exposing the history of ads aimed at recapturing Canadian fugitive slaves. She also teaches courses on transatlantic slavery and how it has been represented in visual culture. Nelson's contributions to visual culture, black Canadian history, and African Canadian art history have been groundbreaking.

To make the reporting process easier for grant holders, SSHRC started phasing in a set of new forms. Achievement reports are now available for the Talent program. Scholarship/fellowship holders now have to fill out this form instead of the final research report.
