SSHRC Logo
The use of the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) logo is regulated by the Federal Identity Program (FIP) of the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat. The following are basic guidelines for using the logo in any visual communication to acknowledge SSHRC funding.
Public communication and acknowledgement of SSHRC support
SSHRC funding recipients are expected to collaborate with SSHRC on public communication initiatives related to research funding and findings, and to acknowledge SSHRC support according to the guidelines set out in Acknowledging SSHRC Support and Communicating the Value of Your Research.
Overview
The logo is SSHRC’s official Government of Canada visual identifier. It consists of a Canadian flag, the Council’s legal name in both official languages and the Government of Canada wordmark.

You may download and use the logo only for the purpose of visually acknowledging SSHRC’s contributions to your project.
Guidelines
Clear space and minimum size
To protect the integrity of our logo, maintain a clear surrounding area, free of competing visual elements. In the example below, the clear space around the logo should be equal or greater than the height and width of the maple leaf’s white space located in the Canadian flag—represented as ‘X’. The minimum size of the logo should measure no less than 5 mm (approximately 3/16 of an inch) in height, not including the reserved clear space.
Do’s and don’ts
- The logo must always appear in its entirety, i.e., with the Canadian flag symbol and both French and English names.
- No modification can be made to proportions, orientation, typography or colour.
- The logo cannot bleed off the page.
- Do not distort, stretch, tilt or modify the logo.
